Monthly Income Report – March

Welcome to my tenth monthly income report on How I Make a Living Online.

Each month I will publish my revenues, expenses, learnings, activities and various statistics on how I make a living online.

What happened in March?

Let’s talk about what didn’t happen.

Blog

I am rather disappointed that I did not manage to publish one single article again this month apart from the income report.

I had every intention to do so, as I wrote two articles but failed to find the time to source images, edit and format them into my blog.

But in saying that, I really do not want this blog to die a slow death like so many before me.

It is rather important to me as it part of a larger plan within my dreams.

So starting from April, I have rejigged my schedule to spend more time working on my blog.

Instead of just writing articles, I am also going to find and work on new ways to grow my blog which I will reveal in later posts.

On a side note, as many of you may know my writing is not my strong point, so I have made a consciously effort to study
and learn how to write better.

Currently I am reading the book Writing down the Bones by Natalie Gordon. So far it has given me lots of fantastic tips and practical strategy to write better.

Her approach is really interesting where it felt like she was teaching meditation but instead of writing.

To get better at writing, she talks about the art of just PRACTICING no matter what. That it? Just write. So that what I am doing.

Niche Websites

I spent some considerable amount time researching and planning my attack for this project.

I decided that I will try to tackle up to five different niches which I found to be rather profitable and most important has a long term future.

Progress on this has been slow, but I have decided to do this on purpose compare to what I did 8 years ago, as I do not want to make the same mistakes of the past like

  • Choosing the wrong niche and ensuring it ticks all my boxes
  • Not Doing too many – even now, I think I am doing too many but compare to back then which I had 100 niches was just stupid.
  • Not putting the right strategy, thinking long term and none of this short term amateur thinking

At the same time I have also been researching new hosting facilities, though Bluehost is an excellent company which this blog continues to be hosted by but occasionally I have notice a speed issue.

So I have decided to try out SiteGround as alternative for my my niche websites, as speed of websites is now an important factor in search ranking.

My goal of April is to get at least 3-4 of niche websites developed.

Digital Agency

After the excitement of the first two months, the momentum took a big dive which I am very thankful for!

Yes it was a blessing in disguise.

I haven’t felt so stressed in such a long time where I was been pulled in every direction.

It made me question whether I wanted to build a Digital Agency.

After much thought and reviewing my Life Plan, the answer is still a yes but I need to be careful on how many clients I can do in my current position.

Especially I am not at a stage to outsource any of the work.

As well I wanted a business that will work within my lifestyle not take over my life. Cause I realise that the first 2 months I barely saw daylight, my back and shoulders ache and my mind was screaming go to sleep.

The funny thing is this all started from just a piece of scrap paper I scratched on late December! And in 2 short weeks, Boom I had a brand new business.

Now with that said lets go to the numbers
